We’re now halfway through our summer body image workshop series for parents — Reclaim Your Beach Body Legacy!
My goal so far has been to help you understand why tending to your own body image isn’t just self-care—it’s legacy work. When you begin to heal your relationship with your body, you don’t just feel more at home in your body. You actively shape the environment your child grows up in. You interrupt patterns. You plant new seeds. You model a version of body acceptance that can ripple through generations.
You might not be seeing big shifts yet—but that doesn’t mean nothing is happening. Every time you pause to reflect, to learn or unlearn, to catch yourself mid-thought or mid-sentence, or to notice what’s happening in your own body, you’re doing quiet but powerful work. You’re shifting the energy.
And your child? They’re picking up on it—by osmosis, through the vibes, in the in-between moments. They’re watching, listening, sensing, and learning. Trust the process
Let’s do a quick recap recap of where we’ve been so far:
Module 1: Why create a “beach body legacy”
In our 5-minute kickoff session, we explore WHY showing up unapologetically in your swimsuit and your body this summer is essential to nurturing your child’s body image resilience — and to nurturing your own as well. Start here to center yourself in the reciprocal power of nurturing your children’s body image resilience while deepening your own healing—where each supports and strengthens the other.
Module 2: Clarify the problem and map the new path forward
Next, we zoom out to define important key terms by exploring both the differences and interconnectedness of body-positivity, body image, and embodiment. This module helps reframe your “body problem” (hint: your body was never the actual problem) as deeper ruptures beneath the surface, explains why attempts to fix your body haven’t improved your body image, and introduces a new lens for understanding the reparative work ahead.
Which brings us to today’s session:
Module 3: Eating to Optimize Body Image, Embodiment, and Wellbeing
It is now time to explore how the way we eat—our food attitudes, patterns, and beliefs—can either support or undermine our body image, sense of embodiment, and overall wellbeing.
We’ll unpack why restriction so often backfires, explore how to gently challenge unhelpful food rules, and consider how the feeding strategies we use with our kids aren’t just for them—they can also help us reconnect with and nourish vital parts of ourselves.
